We believe that every young woman should have the chance at success. The BARDOU Academy aims to help women aged of 18-25 who are vulnerable, unemployed or lack the familial support to make significant change in their lives.
The Academy program gives women the practical skill and emotional support they need to stabilise their lives. We help them develop key skills while boosting their confidence and motivation.
Our 6 month-long hair and make-up programme equips women to earn an income, regain their confidence and actively participate in their communities. When a woman joins the programme, she comes together with 19 other women, forming a tight support group, which, with the help of qualified counsellors helps to break the isolation caused by financial and emotional insecurity. A trainee learns marketable job skills, as well as business training, to turn her hair and make-up skills into a stable income so she can support herself and her family if or when she has one.
After Academy trainees have completed our training course, we continue to support their economic empowerment by connecting them to financial services, advanced business and vocational trainings, and support networks to increase their ability to earn, save, and access capital. We also aim to employ the new stylist into the BARDOU business with opportunities to work as freelance hair and make-up stylist or salon based stylists.
